The Options menu, at the top right of the builder, gathers eleven settings. They do not change the content of your workout: they decide what the builder calculates, and what your athlete reads on their workout.
The menu is split into three families: workout, steps and exercises.
1. Workout
Setting | What it does |
Force workout duration | The durations in the editor set the total duration of the workout. |
Force the distance of the workout | The distances in the editor set the total distance of the workout. |
Activate the structured workout | Makes the workout a guided one. Turned off, the content stays, but it is no longer sent as a guided workout. |
Automatically open the edit window | Every time you add an element, its settings window opens on its own. |
The first two show immediately: add a 20 minute block with Force workout duration on, and the workout's duration field goes to 20 minutes without you touching it.
When the estimate gets in the way
With those two settings on, Nolio calculates the total from your steps. Two cases where the result does not match what you had in mind:
you mix steps in distance with steps in duration;
your workout contains free steps in time, which Nolio cannot put a figure on.
Turn the setting concerned off, and the value you type in by hand is no longer recalculated. It is the same setting that keeps the volume from being recalculated when you apply the workout to several athletes.
📌 Good to know
Turning Activate the structured workout off keeps the content of your workout, but it will no longer be sent as a guided workout to your athlete's watch.
2. Steps
These six settings add or remove information on the steps, as your athlete reads them.
Setting | What it does |
Hide percentages & name | Hides the percentage and the zone name when the figure itself is available. Your athlete then reads only the value. |
Show distance | Adds the distance on speed or pace steps defined by a duration. |
Show duration | Adds the duration on speed or pace steps defined by a distance. |
Show pace | Adds the pace on speed steps. |
Show speed | Adds the speed on pace steps. |
Show step color | Colours each step according to its target zone. |
💡 Tip
Show distance and Show duration only apply to steps whose target is a speed or a pace. On a heart rate or power step, Nolio cannot deduce one from the other: nothing changes.
3. Exercises
Setting | What it does |
Show recovery | Pre-fills the recovery at 30 seconds when you add an exercise. Turned off, the box stays empty. |
One exception: in an EMOM block there is no recovery, so the setting has no effect.
4. Where your settings are kept
The display settings for steps and exercises follow you: set them once and they apply to the workouts you build afterwards.
The first three settings in the workout family attach to the workout once it is saved. Reopening an old workout therefore gives you back its own settings, not the ones you are using today.
