Assign the workout to athletes

Assign a workout to one athlete, several, or a group, and choose between a shared session and an individual copy.

Written by Romain Malbreil

On the Plan a workout page, the Athletes concerned section decides who receives the workout and in what form. This is where you choose between a session shared across a whole group and an individual copy per athlete.

1. Choosing the athletes concerned

In the Apply to a list of athletes field, you can select:

  • one specific athlete;

  • all your athletes;

  • a group of athletes (a squad, a team).

The selected athletes appear under the field. The Clear option removes them all at once.

2. The group workout

When you turn on Group workout:

  • a single workout is created and shared across every athlete in the group;

  • it is also added automatically to any future member of that group.

This is the recommended mode for collective training, clubs and teams — in short, whenever the workout is identical for everyone.

3. Creating one workout per athlete

When the workout is applied to a group, the Create 1 workout per athlete option decides how it is duplicated.

Option

What happens

On

Each athlete gets their own copy of the workout. Ideal if you plan to adapt it athlete by athlete afterwards.

Off

A single shared workout is created. If you edit it, the change applies to every athlete concerned: you can no longer individualise it.

📌 Good to know

This choice is made at creation. If you expect to adjust the workout for some athletes, turn on Create 1 workout per athlete from the start.

4. Duration and distance recalculation

When you assign a structured workout to several athletes, Nolio recalculates its overall duration and distance from each athlete's reference values (MAS, FTP…). The workout is the same, but the volume displayed changes from one athlete to the next.

For example: a workout showing 8.67 km for one athlete will show 7.42 km for another, because the target paces aren't the same.

Locking duration and distance

To stop the overall volume from changing, untick the two recalculation options in the structured workout options, to the left of the builder.

Inside the workout, intensity targets stay adapted to each athlete: only the displayed total is locked.

📌 Good to know

This setting is specific to each workout. There is no global preference: you set it again on every workout where you want to lock the volume.
