How do you track your training load?

Nolio offers three load calculation methods: Foster, Coggan and TRIMP.

Written by Romain Malbreil

Nolio calculates your training load using three methods. They do not rely on the same data, which is why they do not give the same numbers.

The three methods

Method

What it is based on

Foster

Perceived exertion entered after the workout.

Coggan

Power and heart rate data.

TRIMP
(Training Impulse)

Coefficients applied to intensity zones.

📌 Good to know

Foster works without any sensor: it is the only method usable for swimming, strength and conditioning or team sports. Coggan, on the other hand, needs power or heart rate data.
