Average power vs. adjusted power: what's the difference?

The standard average of your watts, compared with a value corrected to account for variations in effort.

Written by Romain Malbreil

Nolio shows two power values for a ride. They answer two different questions.

The two values

Value

What it measures

Avg power

The "standard" average of the power values recorded during the ride.

Adjusted Power

A corrected value that compensates for changes in riding conditions, to better reflect the effort actually produced.

📌 Good to know

Adjusted Power corresponds to the Normalized Power© (NP©) you see on Garmin. If the two platforms don't show exactly the same value, it's not a calculation bug but a matter of how the raw data is processed.
