Compute critical power and W' reserve in cycling

Have your critical power computed from your power peaks, instead of entering it manually.

Written by Romain Malbreil

Most Nolio metrics are entered manually or come in through sync. Cycling critical power is the exception: Nolio can compute it from your power peaks.

📌 Good to know

The same calculation also produces your W' energy reserve. You don't need to request it separately.

Add the metric

  1. Open the metrics page, from the Monitoring menu.

  2. Add the Cycling critical power metric, in the Performance category.

Run the calculation

Once the metric is added, you can either enter a value manually or have it computed.

  1. Run the calculation.

  2. Check the relevant peaks.

  3. Save.

By default, Nolio uses your 5-second and 20-minute peaks. You can select other durations if they better represent your profile.

💡 Tip

The calculation is only as good as your peaks. If one of them comes from an unrepresentative ride, uncheck it: you'll get a more accurate critical power.

This video shows an earlier version of the interface. The principles still apply, but the screens have changed: refer to the GIF above for the current steps.
